Gratitude, the only right attitude!
Gratitude
You can create a feeling of positive energy around you which others will sense, and it will in turn affect their mentality. I urge you to try this. Remember everyone is just trying to eke out an existence in whatever capacity they can. There really isn’t a hierarchy of importance in job titles. The street sweeper is just as important as the high-powered lawyer, and the shoe salesman’s role is as important as your doctors. If you’ve ever worn uncomfortable shoes, you’ll know what I mean here. It is not the title but the attitude that is being brought to the service. A chef might say, “I prepare food” or “I prepare a sensory experience in which I help people create great memories.”
A true respect, admiration, and appreciation for anyone putting their soul into their job will result in what I call “the warm feeling”. This is tangible, hair raising, electricity that is created by releasing our feel-good hormones like serotonin and also endorphins. I think it works like a mirror- when you give out such positivity the recipient can’t help but give the goodwill back. So, make sure you give a compliment to that sales girl or waitstaff the next time you see them, you never know, you just might get a little discount-or at least the bonus of feeling good by letting them know their work matters and they are appreciated.
